Jim Harbaugh’s Infraction and Suspension

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – In case you haven’t heard, Jim Harbaugh is slated to be suspended for Michigan’s first four games in 2023. Harbaugh apparently broke the NCAA’s protocol, spending time with a recruit improperly.

Harbaugh has been Michigan’s coach since 2015, a team that has seen significant success since he took over the program. Michigan has made it to the College Football Semifinal in back-to-back seasons, primarily due to Harbaugh’s leadership and command over this team.

Potential Pitfalls in Initial Games

If this suspension does hold up, Michigan could be in for a world of hurt. Their first four games are against East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green, and Rutgers.

These four games seem like a cakewalk for Michigan, given the lack of powerhouse talent that these schools possess. However, if they even have one minor slip-up, it could be the difference between a third-straight CFB Semifinal appearance and a lost chance to fight for the title. As collegiate football fans know, one loss is detrimental to a team, and two losses are usually catastrophic.

Challenges in the Remaining Schedule

After these first four games, Michigan has a brutal schedule, facing off against Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue, and Penn State. They are also slated to play Ohio State in the final game of the regular season.

With this challenging schedule in mind, Michigan simply cannot afford a loss to any of these lower-tier teams. Harbaugh’s presence will be sorely missed, especially at the beginning of the season.
